Among the features are 18-inch alloy wheels, full LED headlights with 3D-look LED rear lights, a chequered chrome front grille and GT Line badging on the exterior. Stainless steel scuff plates, perforated leather steering wheel, electrically adjustable front seats and a second-row armrest in the rear includes a ski-flap.

For those looking for the ultimate version, the €49,120 GT model tops the 508 range. It is available with the 180hp 2.0-litre BlueHDi engine with automatic transmission. Spec-wise it gets 18-inch alloy wheels, an electrically operated tailgate and GT badging. Inside, there is Nappa leather with electrically adjustable seats and massage function while active suspension control adds to the cars handling.

Anything else?

Commenting on the pricing announcement, Colin Sheridan, Sales and Marketing Director at Gowan Distributors, said that the new 508: "promises to shake up the D Segment, the new 508 meets stringent Euro 6.2 engine emissions controls and is packed with standard comfort and safety equipment. Highly favourable press reviews from the international press launch in late June have already signalled the new Peugeot 508 is very special indeed and we are recording strong enquiries from Irish customers."

All Peugeot dealers in Ireland will have demonstrator cars in early 2019. The high demand in other countries means that the first customer cars may not arrive until March. An estate version will follow later in 2019 as will plug-in hybrid versions.
