Limited edition Peugeot 508 SW estate launches at Paris Motor Show.

What's the news?

The Peugeot 508 SW made its debut at the Paris Motor Show this week and a limited-run version, called the First Edition, will kick off sales. It will be available to order in some countries (but not Ireland) from 2 October and a total of 1,000 will be produced. Peugeot uses the range-topping GT version as the basis of this, so buyers in Ireland will still be able to order a car that is largely similar in look and specification.

A choice of engines available include the 1.6-litre PureTech 225 with the EAT8 automatic transmission and the 2.0-litre BlueHDi 180 also with the automatic. The exterior features a choice of Twilight Blue or Amazonite Grey paint and, for a further layer of exclusivity, the boot floor is lined with a Zebrano wood finish. A unique gloss black grille and 19-inch 'Augusta' diamond cut two-tone alloy wheels round out the unique styling.

The interior continues the high-end look, including carbon effect trim and seat upholstery finished in Nappa leather with contrasting aikinite double stitching. To add to the range-topping specification is a host of driver assistance tech that includes Peugeot's Night Vision function, which the brand claims is a first for the segment. It can pick out and highlight living objects up to 200 metres beyond the range of the main headlights. Other tech features include a DAB digital radio, 10-inch HD capacitive touchscreen system with Connected #d Navigation and voice recognition.

Anything else?

While the First Edition model isn't coming to our shores, Peugeot Ireland did confirm that it expects to have the first examples of the new 508 in dealerships by January 2019, with the SW estate following a month later. You can read our first drive review of the Peugeot 508 here.
