Access GoCars with a Leap Card

Mobility initiative to streamline the use of different transport methods.

What's the news?

As part of European Mobility Week 2018, which runs from 16th to 22nd September, Leap Card users will now be able to access GoCars.

The National Transit Authority and GoCar, the car sharing scheme, is the latest partnership to enable users to gain access by tapping their Leap Cards. The new deal adds to existing agreements with DART, Dublin Bus, Luas and Dublin Bikes, which means that one card now lets you access a variety of transport systems without the need for cash or multiple cards.

Speaking at the announcement, Colm Brady, Managing Director of GoCar, said: "We are delighted to partner with the NTA to make GoCar vehicles accessible via Leap Cards making the process of car sharing even more convenient for members of the public. This European Mobility Week, we are encouraging the public to think smart when it comes to their day-to-day transport and consider car sharing as a sustainable and cost-effective option which can be used in conjunction with public transport, walking and cycling to suit their everyday lives."

Anything else?

During European Mobility Week, GoCar is offering free sign-ups to any new users and €10 off the cost of their first journeys by using the promotional code 'MobilityWeek'. Currently, GoCar has more than 450 cars across hundreds of locations in Ireland. There is no subscription fee, just a cost per journey with rates that start at €8 per hour with the first 50 kilometres of fuel included in each trip. Any distance over 50 kilometres is then charged at a rate of 50 cents per kilometre, unless you notify GoCar in advance, in which case the price drops to 10 cents per kilometre. These costs are charged to the credit card that you must set up on your account, but you can access the cars via the GoCar app or by Leap Card.
