Lister claims that its LFP it's the world's fastest SUV.

What's the news?

You might have thought that a V6-powered Jaguar F-Pace already had quite enough power, but Lister didn't think so. How does 670hp grab you? That's the power figure being claimed for this, the Lister LFP.

What's a Lister? Cast your mind back half a century or so to the 1950s, when sports car racing was bigger than F1 and a little company called Lister decided to take the fight to the might of Mercedes, Ferrari, Maserati, and Jaguar. Using mostly Jaguar engines, Lister's famous 'knobbly' sports cars scored some notable successes, driven by the likes of Stirling Moss, Tony Brooks, and Archie Scott-Brown.

Fast forward to the 90s, and a revived Lister started making tuned versions of the Jaguar XJ-S (with top speeds north of 300km/h) and eventually launched its own, home-made supercar, the Lister Storm, which used a 7.0-litre Jaguar V12 in virtually racing tune.

Now, Lister is back again and making modified Jaguars again. It has already launched the LFT-666, a massively powerful modified F-Type, but if you really want to terrify the kids on the school run, here's the LFP.

That 670hp, we assume (Lister hasn't confirmed yet) comes from a much-modified Jaguar 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, and Lister claims that it can hit 60mph (97km/h) in just 3.5 seconds. With a top speed of 330k/h, the company claims that it's the world's fastest SUV.

Commenting on the much-anticipated release of the bespoke new LFP model, Lawrence Whittaker, CEO of the Lister Motor Company, says: "I am delighted, overwhelmed and gratified by the huge level of interest, excitement and orders our LFT-666 supercar has already generated in just a few months. Based on early indications, our new LFP promises to repeat the success of the LFT-666, and I really can't wait to reveal the world's fastest SUV quite soon.

"We kicked-off 2018 where we left 2017, as the UK's fastest-growing company in the competitive motor industry business sector, according to leading independent financial analysis specialists, Plimsoll. Over the past six months the Lister Motor Company has been working very hard, developing our Tuning Division, starting with modifying the Jaguar F-Type, the Lister LFT-666, and setting up our new headquarters in Lancashire. The imminent release of our new monster killer LFP promises to see this healthy situation continue for the remainder of this year, and beyond."
