One-off creation for loyal customer has bespoke bodywork and tailor-made interior.

What's the news?

This glorious, unique machine is the Ferrari SP38, a creation of Maranello's 'One-Off Programme', and it has been created on the platform of a 488 GTB.

It was revealed at Fiorano, Ferrari's test track, for one of the company's 'most dedicated customers', and immediately after being handed over, it did some hot laps of the circuit to ensure everything was just so.

The all-new, bespoke bodywork is finished in three-layer metallic red and is designed to concentrate the visual mass of the car over the rear wheels, with a sharp wedge design to the front. From above, the tapered nose nevertheless expands around the wheel arches, while the inset headlights are specific to the SP38 and designed to be as thin as possible. The front bumper lip is reminiscent of the 308 GTB and the side scoop of the 488 GTB donor car is completely concealed.

At the rear, the slatted engine cover not only looks cool but allows the heat of the twin-turbo motor to escape, while the integrated rear spoiler is designed to look like the rear wing of the F40 supercar of the 1980s. That whole rear end, by the way, is made of carbon fibre and flips up to allow access to the engines. Inside, the SP38 has a fully tailor-made cabin.

Anything else?

The Ferrari SP38 will be on public display for the first time at the upcoming Concorse d'Eleganza at the Villa d'Este, in Italy, at the end of May.
