New Widebody styling kit from Startech adds 60mm to width of Range Rover Velar.

What's the news?

If you like the Range Rover Velar but you want it to look a bit more distinctive, then German company Startech - part of the Brabus Group - can provide with a new styling kit for the mid-sized SUV.

New front and rear bumpers, as well as wheel arch extensions which beef up the Velar's body width by 60mm, are part of the pack, while Startech says it will also upgrade the interior too with various bits and pieces.

Looking at the Startech Widebody kit in more detail, it is made up of 16 different components, which the company fashions out of PUR-R-RIM (that's polyurethane reinforced reaction injection moulding, in case you're wondering) and carbon-fibre reinforced plastic. The front bumper replaces the OEM item entirely and boasts an integrated front spoiler, larger air intakes and integrated daytime running lights.

Around the sides, the blistered arches allow for bigger wheels and tyres, so Startech Monostar five double-spoke alloys that are 22 inches in diameter and 10 inches wide are bolted on. These are wrapped in 295/35 R22 Continental tyres and the alloys themselves are finished in black, with a centre-lock hub-cover look.

At the rear, the Startech bumper insert mimics a diffuser, while there are different tailpipe covers for the factory exhaust system - which is enhanced by the Startech Sound Xtra module, designed to make any petrol or diesel model of Velar sound like it's a petrol V8. Finally, the whole SUV is lowered 30mm on the air suspension, thanks to a Startech programme for the ride control module.

Within the Velar's opulent cabin, Startech provides a range of aluminium pedals and footrest covers, as well as sill plates with a backlit Startech logo. The company also says it will honour bespoke customer requests for leather and/or Alcantara upholstery, while there are matching wood and carbon-fibre trim choices to make too.

Anything else?

The Brabus-developed Startech kit for the Range Rover Velar will have its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show this month. If you want more information before then, go to www.startech.de.
