New ABT Engine Control kit for monster Audi RS 4 offers gains of 60hp and 80Nm for fast estate.

What's the news?

No sooner has Audi brought out its latest version of the stonking RS 4 Avant, which is pretty quick as standard (and that's seriously underplaying the truth), do we discover that fabled German tuning house ABT has decided to deliver a power upgrade package for the rapid wagon.

So if you're thinking that 450hp and 600Nm are not enough for you, then the ABT RS 4 should satisfy. It delivers an extra 60hp and 80Nm, and while we're sure you're more than capable of doing the maths yourself, that leads to impressive peaks of 510hp and 680Nm; numbers which should significantly cut the scorching 4.1-second 0-100km/h time of the Audi.
The gains are achieved by the ABT Engine Control (AEC) unit, which continuously adjusts more than 25 parameters of the ECU to ensure the optimum use of power at all times. It also maintains the Audi's engine reliability, too, by not over-stressing the components within the motor.

Further details of the ABT Audi RS 4 include a selection of four 20-inch Abt sport alloy wheels - styles DR, ER-C, FR and GR - which can be painted in Mystic Black, Glossy Black or Matte Black. They also come with spacers to widen the track of the car, while the suspension can be upgraded with ABT sports anti-roll bars on both the front and rear axles. Finally, the start-stop button has an illuminated Abt logo.

Anything else?

And if the ABT RS 4 with 510hp doesn't sound enough, enigmatically the CEO of the company - Hans-Juergen ABT - says that this is not the end of the road for performance gains for this car, adding: "We have prepared a little surprise for Geneva Motor Show." So we'll be intrigued to see what's on offer in Switzerland, then...
