What's the news?
In news of cars none of us can afford, McLaren has announced that it's upgrading the styling and equipment on its 570GT model.
The biggest change is that the GT now comes with carbon-ceramic brake discs as standard, and can be had with a Sport Pack that tightens up the suspension settings to mimic those of the 570S and 570S Spider. McLaren points out that the 570GT was always designed to be a little more comfy and a little less hardcore than the 570S but that customers had been asking for a more aggressive chassis setup.
So, for STG£4,900, you can give your 570GT a new steering rack, suspension actuators, uprights, and Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres to make it more sporty to drive.
There are some other new options, including an electrochromatic glass roof for the coupe, developed by McLaren's Special Operations skunkworks, and five new 'Design Edition' packs. These bundle some of the popular exterior colours with specially designed 'By McLaren' interiors that best match them, and include Silica White exterior with Saddle Tan and Carbon Black interior; Pacific Blue with Jet Black and Areia (cream); Blade Silver with Natural Tan and Carbon Black; Fire Black with Jet Black and Areia; and Storm Grey with Jet Black and Almond White.
Other new colours, lifted from the 570S, include Curacao Blue, Vega Blue and Sicilian Yellow and you can have lightweight new 10-spoke forged alloy wheels, with 'Liquid Black' finish on the brake callipers. There's also a small software tweak that brings up the rear camera display in the centre of the digital instrument panel, rather than on the infotainment screen.
Finally, the 570S gets the option of some new Alcantara interior finishes, and the new rear spoiler, 12mm taller and introduced last year as part of the 'Track Pack' is now standard on all models.
