American philanthropist has bespoke purple McLaren 720S finished in unusual fuchsia shade.

What's the news?

This eye-catching McLaren 720S is a truly unique example of the hypercar, created for a noted car collector and entrepreneur - and it'll be on display at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Monterey, California.

It can't have failed to have come to your attention that this 720S, built by the Bespoke division of McLaren Special Operations (MSO), is pink; really, really pink. And the shade is called, ahem, Fux Fuchsia, in honour of its new owner, American philanthropist Michael Fux.

McLaren's CEO, Mike Flewitt, presented the car to Mr Fux in Monterey, ahead of it being on display at the Concept Lawn on Concours Sunday.

The colour is one that Mr Fux - who has previously commissioned a McLaren 12C in McLaren Orange, a 12C Spider in bespoke purple and a McLaren P1 in bespoke green - actually had created for him by Rolls-Royce, although it has been subsequently redeveloped by MSO and the car collector will now retain the exclusive rights to its use on any other McLaren vehicle.

Jolyon Nash, McLaren Automotive's executive director for global sales and marketing, said: "Challenging the art of the possible to meet the most demanding customer requirements and then delivering beyond expectations are integral to the service that MSO offers. MSO provides McLaren owners with virtually limitless possibilities to tailor a car exactly to their needs and tastes; unique paint colours and finishes, custom leather and stitching and exotic materials are all available within a bespoke commission, while beyond this there are opportunities all the way up to complete vehicles designed to individual specification."

The 720S doesn't just have its body finished in the fuchsia, but it also features splashes of the colour on the lightweight wheels - which are otherwise platinum - as well as on door appliques, a pinstripe on the steering wheel and even the interior mirror. Although the predominant hue within is white - lots and lots of white. So much white, in fact, as it clothes everything from the headlining to the cupholder... and even the stitching is white.

Elsewhere, the exhaust and window surrounds are in Stealth Grey finish, while carbon fibre component from the MSO Defined range are also equipped.

Anything else?

Just to remind you, the 720S is capable of 0-100km/h in 2.9 seconds and 341km/h flat out, courtesy of 720hp and 770Nm from a 4.0-litre biturbo V8. So no laughing at that pink paintwork, now...
