SEAT’s new Ibiza supermini arrives in time for 172 registration period.

What's the news?

SEAT Ireland has confirmed that the new Ibiza supermini will go on sale here in time for the 172 registration period, with prices starting from €14,995.

That money will get you a 75hp 1.0-litre three-cylinder model in S trim, which will come with a new offer which includes three year's servicing, a two per cent PCP finance rate, and one year's free motor tax.

More than 30,000 Ibizas have been sold in Ireland since the original model was launched in 1984, so it's clearly a critical model for the company. It is the first to use Volkswagen's new MQB A0 platform, which means it can be fitted with a host of high-end, high-tech options including forward collision warning, which will come as standard on all models.

Other options available are Adaptive Cruise Control, and a wireless charger and GSM signal amplifier for your phone. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also available, as is an eight-inch touch screen. On the practical front, SEAT claims to have the largest boot in its class.

It can be had with a turbocharged 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine as well, the most affordable of which starts at €18,065, while a top-spec (for now) FR 115hp model is €20,185.

Niall Phillips, Brand Director at SEAT Ireland commented: "The Ibiza continues to be an icon of the SEAT brand and due to world class innovation and outstanding design, the all-new fifth generation Ibiza is set to be better than ever. It will epitomise exactly what the SEAT brand stands for, high quality, excellent design and value for money. We look forward to introducing the all-new Ibiza to the Irish market in late June."
