The vehicle isn't due to arrive until next year, but Mercedes has already experienced strong demand from interested parties.
The refundable fee of £1,000 (about €1,160) will secure customers an opportunity to order their new X-Class before anyone else. Those who do plump for the premium pickup should be able to choose from 2.3-litre four-cylinder or 3.0-litre V6 diesel engines, and connectivity and comfort are set to feature prominently in the cabin.
We already know that the pickup shares DNA with the Renault Alaskan and new Nissan Navarra, and the final production form should look pretty similar to the two concept versions teased by Mercedes last year.
Steve Bridge, MD of Mercedes-Benz Vans UK commented: "Many customers we have spoken to have a strong desire to be amongst the first to own the new X-Class, which is incredible considering that it hasn't been unveiled yet!" Quite.
