More Lamborghini teasing

Latest image of new Lamborghini is of its carbon fibre structure.

This is the carbon monocoque of a new Lamborghini, shown as the latest part of a long drawn teaser campaign for the Murcielago replacement.

Getting its name would be nice, but alas all we have to date is a set of pictures comprising its engine bay, suspension components and now its internal shell. Sigh.

We're fairly certain it'll be called the Aventador, so let's assume that's true from here on.

The car, which will be finally unveiled in full at the Geneva Motor Show, probably amid an en masse photographer brawl, will have a V12 petrol engine with 700hp. It shall be epic.

So, this latest picture. It shows the Aventador's monocoque cell, which is made entirely from carbon fibre and is much the same thing that Formula One cars use. Lamborghini says it 'functions like an extremely safe roll cage.'

For the pedants among you, the entire shell is made using a braiding and sophisticated resin injection technique, and weighs 147.5kg. Despite the lightness, its impact absorbing capability is supposedly phenomenal.

It's connected to the body with aluminium sub-frames, onto which the suspension and engine are mounted.

So there you have it. The Lamborghini Aventador monocoque. Far more interesting than a picture of the dashboard or confirmation of the 0-100km/h time, you'll agree...
