However, Ford Performance has announced that it will add two more years of production for the Ford GT. Year three of production will be used to cover applicants that were placed on a waiting list, while some of year four production is being allocated for previously unsuccessful applicants. The remainder of year four production will see its application process reopen in 2018. Ford Performance has stated that those who have already applied will only need to update their request.
Dave Pericak, Global Director, Ford Performance, said: "While we can't build enough Ford GTs for everyone who has applied, we are going to produce additional vehicles in an effort to satisfy more of our most loyal Ford ambassadors. We want to keep Ford GT exclusive, but at the same time we know how vital this customer is to our brand."
Anything else?
Even though Ford doesn't have the same kind of super car lineage as other, more exotic car makers, since this latest Ford GT was unveiled it has proven to be every bit as desirable. This year its race version has seen a good deal of success in the World Endurance Championship, including a class win at Le Mans.
