The three Festival races will take on an interesting layout, with grid positions drawn from a hat for the first heat, and these positions then reversed for the second heat. One point will be awarded to the heat winner, with two points for second place and so on. The grid for the final will then be decided by totting up the points scores, with the lowest scoring competitor starting from pole. It's certainly an interesting format and is sure to guarantee close racing and hard battles throughout the day.
The weekend's billing also includes races for Tool Dynamics Supercars, SEAT Supercup Ireland, Procraft Tools Fiestas, Patch Tyre Equipment Fiesta STs, Teng Tools Irish Touring Car Championship, Irish Sports Cars, HRCA Historics, BOSS Ireland and micksgarage.com Future Classics, so there's something to keep everyone entertained. Sunday's races will be broadcast live on Mondello.TV for those who wish to watch from the comfort of the couch.
Anything else?
In line with previous years, the event is being run in aid of charity with Laura Lynn, Ireland's Children's Hospice as the beneficiary. The entry fee is €10 for each day with all proceeds going to the concern, and there is a barbeque and charity auction in the circuit bar on Saturday night along with family entertainment over both days. All information on the event and timetables for the 23 races can be found on www.mondellopark.ie.
