Volkswagen's Touareg has now been with us since 2002. A significantly updated model was launched in 2010 and is to be offered with a styling pack named R-Line. VW hopes that the new exterior styling options will "round out the options offered" and offer "a more dynamic look".

The exterior pack consists of a textured matt black diffuser on the rear bumper with integrated oval tailpipes in the redesigned bumper section. Above this is a roof spoiler. The side of the car features body coloured side sills with chrome strips on the bottom of the doors. The front also gets the R-Line treatment with a new lip spoiler.

To complement the exterior pack, buyers are offered the R-Line and R-line Plus options. Both packs upgrade the wheels to 20-inch 'Mallory' alloys and sportier tuning of the running gear, though no details of what adjustments are made have been provided. The R-line Plus features front sport seats with electric 12-way adjustment and two-tone Nappa leather.

The R-Line packs may be combined with all engine versions except the V6 TSI Hybrid. Pricing and availability has yet to be confirmed in full, though it's likely to add about €9,000 to the list price due to Ireland's VRT taxation.
