Limited edition Boxster S

All-black Porsche Boxster S debuts at Geneva Motor Show.

Porsche has gone back to black with the Boxster. The German performance car maker has revealed the first official pictures of its new limited edition Boxster S - the Black Edition.

Powered by the usual 3.4-litre flat-six lump from the existing Boxster S, the limited run model benefits from an additional 10hp and 10Nm of torque. That takes the total outputs to 320hp and 370Nm respectively.

Chances are you'll struggle to notice the extra grunt - even on a track - but Porsche reckons the Black Edition will hit 100km/h in 5.2 seconds. That's one tenth of a second less than the standard Boxster S.

True to its name, the Boxster S Black Edition does indeed feature black paintwork, as well as numerous other matching features. Inside, the instrument cluster, the steering wheel rim and the dashboard are all finished in black.

Similarly coloured features elsewhere on the car include the rolls bars, the side air intakes and the twin exhaust pipes. Black Edition badges adorn the car, too.

Guess what? The ten-spoke, lightweight alloy wheels match as well and the Boxster also gets LED daytime running lights.

Equipment levels are pretty generous, as Porsche has decked the car out with its Communication Management pack, featuring satnav, Bluetooth phone connectivity and an mp3 stereo.

The company will build only 987 examples of the Boxster S Black Edition and it will reveal it in the metal at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
