Kumho tyres for Hyundai Carlino concept

Kumho designs insane tyres for Hyundai concept.

What's the news?

If you were thinking "what my new concept car needs is truly insane-looking tyres that appear to be refugees from the set of the new Judge Dredd movie" then Koran tyre-maker Kumho has the answer to your dreams - nut-job tyres. These, er, distinctive rubber boots have been designed especially for the Hyundai Carlino concept, which will be unveiled at the upcoming Auto Expo in Delhi. The Carlino is expected to be, basically, Hyundai's Kia-Soul-based Nissan Juke rival, but Kumho decided that the best way to show the car off was to put these tyres, with their huge individual tread-blocks on it.

"When designing its tyres, Kumho prioritised safety and versatility" said a Kumho spokesperson. "The result is a unique product with broad shoulders for maximum grip and adaptability, and a special tread pattern that speeds the expulsion of dirt and grit. Unlike most such tyres that exhibit quite noisy on-road performance, the sound of those created for the Carlino is minimised by special 3D honeycomb tread blocks."

Kumho's been at the mad-tyres design thing before. Its ultra-low-profile Maxplo tyres won the 'Futuristic' class of the Italian A' Design awards, and the brand has previously picked-up Red Dot design awards too.
