Bob Montgomery, Show Director, said "Ford has been synonymous with Ireland for many reasons not least the companies Cork connections through both the founding family's personal history and the manufacturing plant that was operated there for many years. The Ford Model T is probably one of the most significant cars ever built. It was the first time that people of modest means could afford a car and it was the beginnings of our love for mass motorised transport. The car that appeared in the show Rebellion is a perfect example of the vehicles that were in use at the time of the 1916 uprising."
Model T production began at Ford's factory in Cork (which had previously only made tractors) and continued until December 1927 - six months after production of the iconic car had ceased in the US.
