Peugeot on the move with new Traveller MPV

Peugeot Traveller can carry up to nine people, is based on EMP2 underpinnings.

What's the news?

Peugeot is matching sister brand Citroën here with the announcement of the Traveller large MPV. Essentially a window-equipped van, the Traveller is the analogue of the Citroën SpaceTourer.

That means it comes in two different guises for private and business users - known respectively as the Combispace and the Shuttle - and each of those is further split into two. Here in Ireland, that means we get the Traveller Combispace in Active and Allure trims. All models get electrically sliding side doors, a child mirror, sun blinds in the second row, an opening rear window, 'aviation tablets' on the back of the front seats, four 12-volt sockets, a 230V socket, a USB port, a full range of in-car connectivity and a host of driver assist safety systems to call upon.

Providing the motive power will be a variety of BlueHDi diesel units that are EU6-compliant, with outputs ranging from 95- to 180hp. Five- and six-speed manual transmissions are offered, as is a six-speed automated manual ETG 'box and also a proper EAT6 torque converter self-shifter. The Traveller's best CO2 and economy numbers are impressive, at 133g/km and 5.1 litres/100km (55.4mpg) respectively.

Anything else?

Built on the EMP2 platform, Travellers can be had in five-, six-, seven-, eight- and even nine-seater formats, although the Combispace's maximum capacity is eight people.
