Lamborghini takes on more staff

Increasing sales and the development of the Urus SUV mean Lamborghini is taking on more workers.

What's the news?

Lamborghini sold a record number of vehicles in 2015 and saw its workforce grow by 150 people. Last year 3,245 cars found owners and the headcount totalled 1,300. With the Urus sports SUV due to launch in 2018 more workers will join the company this year.

Quality, R&D, Purchasing, Industrial and Project Management staff will be taken on in addition to production line workers. Five hundred people will join the company this year, with 180 contracts already in place. Adding a third model line also means the factory will nearly double in size from 80,000 to 150,000 square metres.

Anything else?

Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, commented: "Lamborghini is experiencing strong, steady growth in sales and also in its workforce. We are getting ready for ground breaking changes with the introduction of our third model in 2018, which points to stable, sustainable growth for our company. This is why our investments in human resources are more important than ever, as we continue to focus on excellence and continuous improvements in this new phase of the company's future."
