To make room for the Q6 e-tron, Audi is having to shuffle around some production. The A1 hatchback is currently built in Brussels, so that'll have to go. SEAT will be the beneficiary, as the A1 line will be moved to its plant in Martorell, just outside Barcelona.
The Audi Q3 is already in place in Martorell though, and as the A1 is built in much bigger volumes, so the Q3 will have to move. It'll go to the Gyor plant in Hungary, where Audi already builds the TT and some A3 variants.
"The new model distribution will enhance our production efficiency and strengthen all of the sites involved," stated Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG. "It will allow us to utilise further synergies within the Volkswagen Group and to bundle key competencies."
