Mugen and Modulo style up Honda Civic Type R

Tokyo Auto Salon sees tuning houses add wild body kits to Honda’s Civic Type R.

What's the news?

If you thought the aesthetic of the new turbocharged Honda Civic Type R wasn't quite aggressive enough, then rejoice - two tuning firms have revealed even more lurid versions of the megahatch at the Tokyo Auto Salon.

One of these companies should be familiar to fans of the Japanese automaker. Mugen has added a revised front bumper with contrasting black parts around the splitter and the wheel arches, with the black theme continued on side and rear skirts. Meanwhile, the big rear spoiler is replaced by another whopper, this one inspired by the design of those on race cars; it's also lighter than the standard item.

Moving along, Modulo also goes for the styling angle, chucking on a revised body kit for the CTR that features flared side skirts, while elsewhere are red accents on the door mirrors and the sides of the rear spoiler. It has also changed the fuel filler cap on the Honda as well.

Anything else?

Aside from the two beefed-up Civics, several versions of the S660 roadster can be seen at the Tokyo Auto Salon, while Honda Racing will display the McLaren-Honda MP4-30, the meaty Super GT GT500 NSX Concept-GT and Honda's entry into the Japanese Super Formula series.
