Subaru coupé due in Geneva

The Geneva Motor Show will host the debut of Subaru's new sports coupé - in concept format.

Subaru has announced its plans for the Geneva Motor Show in March.  Most exciting is the world debut of the 'Subaru Rear-Wheel Drive Sports Car Technology Concept'.  The Subaru Impreza Concept and Subaru Trezia will make their European debuts too.

It is no secret that Subaru has been working with Toyota on a rear-wheel drive sports coupé.  Toyota's version has already been seen in concept format as the FT-86, but this will be our first chance to glimpse Subaru's take on it.  According to Subaru, the technology concept promises to demonstrate how the new platform makes 'full use of Subaru's engineering and Boxer technology'.

The Subaru Trezia MPV is a rebadged Toyota Verso.  It is less than four metres long with Band A CO2 emissions of 113g/km for the 1.4-litre turbodiesel model.  A 1.3-litre petrol engine will also be offered.

Designed to show a 'possible direction' for the model, Subaru's Impreza Concept (pictured) was first shown in Los Angeles last year.  The four-seat coupé retains a boxer engine and four-wheel drive and we think the styling will prove much more popular than the current hatchback version.

We will bring you full details of Subaru's offerings when the Geneva Motor Show opens to the press on 1 March.
