Volkswagen at CES 2016

Future of in-car connectivity to be revealed by Volkswagen at Consumer Electronics Show.

What's the news?

Volkswagen will reveal a new concept car at the Consumer Electronics Show, CES, on 6th January 2016 in Las Vegas. In its press release, Volkswagen describes the concept as marking the beginning of a new era of affordable, long-distance electromobility - which means it will feature some sort of electric drive system.

Dr Herbert Diess, Chairman of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, will give the keynote address on the evening before the show. Dr Diess' speech will focus on the latest developments in alternative power and the next generation of connective technology.

As well as long-term trends Volkswagen's show stand will display the latest in-car infotainment technology that will come to market soon. We can expect to see new display and operating concepts such as those seen on the Golf R Touch concept car launched at the 2015 CES.

Anything else?

Automotive news website, The Truth About Cars, has obtained a video from 'less than official channels' that appears to show a Volkswagen Golf with a TFT virtual instrument cluster. This is said to be a key part of what will be revealed at the show. You can see the video below.
