Japanese firm pushing to raise interest in cars.

Nissan is planning to use the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show to showcase its future technology in a bid to boost general interest in cars with a younger generation.

The Japanese car maker is keen to impress on home soil but the subtext is a concern that there is a whole generation that aren't interested in cars. 'Share natives' represent what Nissan describes as people that have gone straight from the cradle to digital technology and although these younger people are soon to reach driving age they don't seem too keen on cars.

With this in mind, Nissan has created a boxy concept called Teatro for Dayz, which looks much like a modern version of the cult icon that is the Nissan Cube. Rather than focus on dynamic performance promises, this concept is built using Nissan's electric vehicle technology and puts the focus on the interior and, more importantly for those 'share natives', the ability to connect and share. Even Nissan goes as far as to say that the Teatro for Dayz is "as much a giant mobile battery as four-wheel transportation".

Its interior is designed to represent a clean canvas and features a smooth all white surface including on the instrument panel, seats and door trim allowing for users to create, connect and share. If you think that this sounds like a modern mobile colouring-in book on wheels you might not be too far wrong.

Fresh from its debut at last month's Frankfurt Motor Show, the Nissan Gripz concept will make its first appearance in Japan on the Nissan stand. This divisive design study hints at a new crossover-based Z car that could be introduced to compliment the existing 370Z and in this concept guise is powered by a petrol engine and electric motor.

On a more practical front, Nissan will also show its upgraded Leaf, which now features an increased battery capacity. Other models being presented on the 20 vehicle strong stand will include the X-Trail Hybrid Mode Premier, Juke 16GT Four Personalization along with other domestic market models.

Anything else?

Last year's spectacular looking Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo has been given a fresh coat of paint and a revised grille ahead of being rolled out at the Tokyo Motor Show. Now wearing a vibrant 'Fire Knight' hue, the car created for the hugely successful driving simulator computer game gives an insight into how the next Nissan GT-R will look.
