New Volkswagen Caddy Alltrack debuts at Frankfurt

Successor to the Cross Caddy gets rugged new looks.

This is the new Caddy Alltrack, set to replace the Cross Caddy and as suggested by its title it is a rugged version of the current Caddy passenger and panel van.

Exterior

Much like the Passat and Golf before it, the Caddy gets the Alltrack treatment of black lower-body plastic cladding, which contrasts with the van's body colours, as well as roof rails, silver mirror detailing and the three chrome fins in the painted radiator grille. Front fog lights, smoked tail light clusters and a smattering of Alltrack logos complete the treatment.

To distinguish it from the other Caddy models, the Alltrack gets exclusive 17-inch 'Quito' alloy wheels and is available in new 'Mojave Beige' metallic paintwork.

Interior

Inside, the passenger version of the new Caddy Alltrack sees special 7Summits seat covers, airplane style folding tables on the backs of the front seats and an adjustable centre armrest. There are also aluminium-look pedals, Alltrack floor mats with Muscat-coloured stitching and 'Carbon Square Dark' cockpit decor. An optional chrome package can be specified with the rotary light switch, mirror adjustment switches, electric window switches and handbrake lever button all trimmed in, er, chrome, funnily enough.

The panel version is a little more sparsely finished; however the seats are covered in a tough Pillion fabric and both Caddy Alltrack versions come with an optional leather package giving the cabin a leather steering wheel, handbrake and gear lever with Muscat-coloured stitching.

Mechanicals

Based on the current Caddy, the new Caddy Alltrack will come with a range of petrol and diesel engines, mated to manual or seven-speed DSG transmissions. Volkswagen's four-wheel drive system, 4Motion, is an option on both models.
