What's the news?

This is the Mazda Koeru concept, a CX-5 sized design study that could foretell a potential CX-4 model.

It clearly takes some of the style of the current Mazda range, but it's lower, sleeker and more defined than before. Mazda hasn't specifically said that it's based on the same SkyActiv platform as the current CX-5, but does say that it has 'outstanding aerodynamics' and SkyActiv technology with 'efficient driver-oriented powertrains and suspension.'

It certainly shares the same wheelbase as the current CX-5 and the rumours currently doing the rounds of Hall 9.0 in Frankfurt is that it's a preview of a low-slung CX-4 coupe to slot between the CX-3 and CX-5.

Mazda is also showing off a new MX-5 with a special accessory pack, including 17-inch alloys and a lightweight carbon luggage rack for the top of the boot.
