Proving that it's not just sleek and sporty concepts being revealed at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show, Opel will show its new Vivaro Surf Concept. Based on the Vivaro van, the Surf Concept uses a crew-cab setup to seat up to six passengers. There is a separate cargo area in the rear that can swallow up to 3,200 litres of cargo, or in the case of the long wheelbase version, up to 4,000 litres of cargo.
The most eye-catching feature of the Opel Vivaro Surf Concept is the two-tone copper-brown and white paint that includes a grey surf-themed design. Five-spoke alloy wheels are detailed with blue paint around the rim in between each spoke.
Inside there is seating for up to three passengers in the front, while access to the rear cab is via sliding doors on either side. Three individual seats in the back offer up plenty of legroom as well as armrests on either side of the middle seat. Although the rear cargo area is totally separate from the passenger space, there is a glass window to see through. Under the rear seats, there is an additional storage box that smaller items can be placed into.
Powering the Vivaro Surf Concept is Opel's 1.6-litre BiTurbo CDTI diesel engine that produces 140hp and 340Nm of torque. The rear axle also uses an air suspension setup to give its passengers a smoother ride and combined with the shortened springs in the front suspension lowers the overall height by seven centimetres in comparison to a regular Vivaro.
Anything else?
The Vivaro Surf Concept is, according to Opel, ready for production and although it is being shown with a concept tag attached to it, insiders say that it could get the green light for a limited production run in the near future.
