New MINI Connected includes Streetwise to improve route planning.

The MINI Connected app has been overhauled to give a greater level of functionality while still retaining the fun factor.

Through their smartphone, MINI owners will be able to remotely check on their car's status including fuel level, potential driving range and its current location. The MINI Streetwise element of the app is a new feature and is designed to help make journey planning even easier. It keeps track of past journeys and can suggest better routes if it detects a regular route pattern. Streetwise also enables users to also search for a planned journey and it will not only give the estimated arrival time but also details like expected fuel consumption.

Online Search can be used to look for specific places by name rather than location, such as restaurants. These can then be transferred directly into the car's navigation system. MINI Connected can also connect with your calendar and serve up reminders on the car's display, including appointments and to-do lists.

Anything else?

Keeping the fun element to MINI are new Sports Instruments and Force Meter, which are applications that can be called up in the central instrument display. Sports Instruments can give more detailed performance data for the car including real-time power output and torque, engine temperature and a more detailed rev counter. Force Meter, as the name suggests, is a G-force meter than can illustrate both longitudinal and later acceleration forces.
