Asterion plug-in hybrid set for Villa d'Este, Lamborghini confirms.

Lamborghini is going to take its Asterion LPI 910-4 plug-in hybrid demonstrator to the Concours d'Elegance at the Villa d'Este later this month.

This stunning machine features a 5.2-litre, mid-mounted V10 petrol engine, supplemented by three electric motors. This surfeit of motive power churns out a peak figure of 910hp, with Lambo claiming 0-100km/h in 3.0 seconds flat and a top speed of 320km/h, all while returning up to 5.0 litres/100km (56mpg) and emitting just 98g/km CO2.

The Italian supercar manufacturer is entering the Asterion at the Lake Como event in Italy in the hope of winning the Design Award for concept cars and prototypes. It will be accompanied on stage by Filippo Perini, the head of Centro Stile Lamborghini, who headed up the team responsible for this glorious PHEV.

Anything else?

You can't fail to have noticed the words 'demonstrator', 'concept' and 'prototype' in this piece, which - sadly - means that there's still no indication that the Asterion is going to enter production yet. We're hoping Lambo sees sense and pushes the button sooner, rather than later.
