New and used vehicles sales continue to grow

Latest data from Cartell.ie shows new vehicles sales up by almost a third.

New vehicle sales are up by almost a third in 2015 according to the latest data from vehicle history expert Cartell.ie. Taking private cars, hackney, taxis and both light and heavy commercial vehicles, some 75,655 transactions have been carried out in the first quarter of this year, up 32 per cent on the same period last year.

Used car sales continue to grow with a rise of 11 per cent when the two periods are compared. Again, using the full database of records, which includes trade-to-trade, private-to-private, private-to-trade, and trade-to-private transaction, there has been 303,750 transactions so far this year compared to 273,034 in the first quarter of 2014.

"2015 has already been a strong year for both the new vehicle market and the used vehicle market," said Jeff Aherne, Director of Cartell.ie.

"The new vehicle market is up 32 per cent while the overall level of transactions in the used vehicle market has advanced 11 per cent. We see room for further growth in both markets this year."
