Classic Jags return to race track

New series for pre-'66 Jaguars starts up next year.

Jaguar's getting back into motorsport, but sadly for those expecting an F1 entry or a new Le Mans team, the news is not so good. Don't be down-hearted though, as the plan instead is for a Jaguar-supported historic racing series - the Jaguar Heritage Challenge.

Open to models such as the famed C-Type and D-Type racers as well as road-based E-Types, XK coupés and convertibles and MkI & MKII saloons, the Challenge will kick off next year with five events - four to be held in the UK and one to be held in continental Europe. The running of the series will be down to the Historic Sports Car Club.

Anything else?
Derek Weale, Jaguar Land Rover Heritage Business Director, said: "Jaguar has established a strong presence in renowned heritage car celebrations including the Mille Miglia and Goodwood Revival in recent times. A single-marque race series will be an exciting addition to our plans for next year, and I look forward to meeting privateer teams that want to race Jaguar heritage sports and saloon cars in 2015."
