Porsche recalls 4,428 Cayman, Boxster and 911s

Worldwide recall to replace faulty bracket on Porsche's sports cars.

Porsche is recalling some 4,428 cars worldwide after discovering a defective lock bracket for the front lid during routine in-house quality checks. The vehicles affected are all from Porsche's two-door sports car stable, which includes the 911, Boxster and Cayman models.
In a statement Porsche says that "it is not possible to guarantee that the bracket meets the specifications in the long term", but stresses that, to date, "there have not been any incidents" relating to the issue such as the unintentional opening of the front lid.

The owners of the 4,428 affected cars will be contacted directly by Porsche with the repair taking place, free of charge, at their local dealership. Work should take no more than half an hour.
