In addition to the reduced price, Volkswagen Ireland has also increased the standard equipment specification to the tune of €2,280. This now includes bi-Xenon headlights, dual-zone climate control and Park Distance Control, as well as Adaptive Cruise Control - amongst a host of other bells and whistles.
Commenting on the announcement of the new pricing, Paul Burke, Operations Director for Volkswagen Ireland, said: "The new price point for Golf R brings it more in line with the rest of our performance Golf range. There is now just a €1,780 price walk from our most expensive GTI to the entry-level R model which is going to give performance car customers something to think about."
Anything else?
