Ferrari celebrates 60th anniversary in US with F60 America

Limited-edition version of F12 Berlinetta will be produced, all are sold.

Ferrari is celebrating its 60th anniversary in North America this year and to mark the occasion has produced a limited edition version of the F12 Berlinetta.

Named the F60 America, the 'new' car marks a return to Ferrari producing built-to-order vehicles much as it did with the 275 GTS4 NART Spider of 1967, which Ferrari produced after the American importer requested an open top version of the 275 GTB4. And like the NART Spider only 10 examples of the F60 America will be produced - and all are spoken for already, despite the fact that the car carries a $2.5 million price tag.

Unveiled at a special anniversary celebration at Beverly Hills City Hall, each F60 America is painted in traditional North American Racing Team livery, features a unique cabin with the dashboard, central tunnel and door panels all finished in composite material and the seats have an American flag motif at their centre.

Like the F12 the F60 America features a 730hp, 6.3-litre V12 engine and can spring from 0-100km/h in 3.1 seconds with all of the noise coming straight into the cabin or marginally dampened by the light fabric roof that can be used at speeds of up to120km/h.

Anything else?
$2.5 million might seem like an awful lot of money for what is essentially an F12 Spider, but the car has been produced for collectors who may look at the $27.5 million that a 275 GTS4 NART Spider recently attracted at auction.
