McLaren P1 GTR confirmed for Pebble Beach

Track-only McLaren P1 to get concept debut in USA.

Visitors to the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event in August are in for a treat - McLaren is set to showcase the P1 GTR in design concept form at the show.

Conceived as a result of buyers of the road-going version who wanted a more circuit-orientated machine, the 1,000hp GTR will be built from June 2015, when the 375th and final P1 has rolled off the line. Next year will, of course, be the 20th anniversary of the McLaren F1 GTR winning Le Mans; F1s also finished third, fourth and fifth that year.

The P1 GTR is being developed using the knowledge gleaned from five decades of McLaren's motorsport nous, while the lucky owners will have 'unprecedented access to the technologies, resources and expertise' that have seen the company bring on some many F1 champions.

Anything else?
The P1 GTR will be unveiled during an exclusive preview at the McLaren Brand Centre, on the 18th fairway at Pebble Beach Lodge, at around 2am Irish time on Saturday, August 16 - or 3pm on Friday 15, Pacific Standard Time. The public will get to see it over the rest of the weekend.
