Land Rover has revealed a raft of new options and upgrades for its Range Rover line-up, packaged together as the 2015 model year enhancement.
Starting with the mechanical side of things, the already impressive SDV8 engine gets a 40Nm increase in torque to 740Nm resulting in what Land Rover says is a 'fuller torque curve'. The added grunt also improves in-gear acceleration. To cope with this, the ZF 8HP70 gearbox has been reengineered and fitted with an updated torque converter that features a twin-spring damper. Fuel consumption is unchanged despite the improved performance.
Both the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models will now be available with fixed panoramic glass roofs with power blinds as an option, while those who use their Range Rover in more challenging conditions will be able to specify smaller 19-inch alloy wheels with a Satin Dark Grey finish. Alternatively, buyers of the long-wheelbase model will now be able to have 22-inch alloy wheels fitted, as well as having the choice of two new colours - Aruba Silver and Kaikoura Stone.
The highly equipped Range Rover Autobiography Black Long Wheel Base will be introduced in August and will offer the highest levels of design and exclusivity in the range. An Executive Package adds two individual and fully adjustable leather seats with a centre console that can electrically deploy leather tables and features integrated USB charging sockets and configurable mood lighting.
Anything else?
Also introduced in this update will be the Land Rover InControl Remote and InControl Secure systems as standard. The former includes an Emergency Call system, Land Rover Assistance and a Smartphone app that allows the latter system to track the vehicle should it be stolen. Buyers can also specify the InControl Wi-Fi system that adds a mobile hotspot to the car, which various devices can be connected to.
