Green Hornet's 'Black Beauty' up for sale

Green Hornet car features machine guns on the bonnet and missiles in the grille.

He may not be the best known super hero, but the Green Hornet could possibly have the best super hero car in Black Beauty, a 1965 Chrysler Imperial fitted with machine guns and rocket launchers. And now you can own it - comic book fans and victims of road rage rejoice.

Under the hammer next week at the RR Auction in Massachusetts, USA is one of two remaining screen cars from the 2011 Green Hornet film. A total of 29 vehicles were made for the film but most of them were either stripped out stunt cars or were destroyed during filming. The other remaining car is actually a pre-Kato-modified car so does not feature Black Beauty's armaments.

These include two 30-calibre machine guns mounted on the bonnet, 12 Stinger missiles in the front and rear bumpers, a flame-thrower mounted to the front grille, beanbag launchers and shotgun barrels in the front, a revolving rear licence plate (which flips to "Hornet" by pushing a button on the keychain remote) and painted green headlights. Other modifications include 'butterfly doors' and 20-inch wheels.

Anything else?
Built by Vehicle Effects in California the Imperial features its original 6.8-litre V8 engine, which has just over 114,000 kilometres on the clock.
