Koenigsegg One:1 to debut at Goodwood

Mental Swedish 'megacar' makes 1,360hp and weighs 1,360kg.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK is a Mecca for automotive fans with Lord March opening up his palace grounds for one very special weekend of flat out driving and displays of some of the best cars in the world. And just in case you need any more convincing to travel over, this year's event will feature the first dynamic viewing of the Koenigsegg One:1!

There will actually be two One:1s at Goodwood, one static on the Michelin stand and the other taking part in the Michelin Supercar Run - representing the inaugural dynamic demo of this mental machine in this part of the world. As there are only due to be six One:1s ever built, this represents a third of global production in one place, the first time that more than one example of the most powerful Agera yet will have been seen together.

Just in case you're wondering, the One:1 is so named because it makes 1,360hp and weighs 1,360kg. By lucky chance, the hp figure equates to exactly 1,000kW, or one megaWatt, which is why the Swedish firm refers to it as a 'megacar' and not a hypercar, like the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 or LaFerrari.

The One:1 is a mass of stunning numbers and drool-inducing spec, such as 610kg of downforce at 260km/h, a body 20 per cent lighter than 'normal' Ageras thanks to the extensive use of carbon fibre, fully active aero and the belief that it will be the world's fastest homologated production car, with a 'simulated' top speed of more than 440km/h achieved in testing. Wow.

Anything else?
The whole Michelin tie-up is because the One:1, Koenigsegg's 20th birthday present to itself, runs on bespoke Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres manufactured by the French firm. And as they have to put up with the Agera's ability to pull 2g in the corners, it must be some pretty special rubber...
