New York debut for Audi RS 7 dynamic edition

Visual tweaks elevate Audi RS 7, though no news on European counterpart.

Audi North America has pulled the wraps off a visually-tweaked RS 7, giving it the long and slightly clunky name of Audi exclusive RS 7 dynamic edition (those are the company's lower case letters, not ours). It's basically a styling update only, the as the RS 7's impressive mechanicals remain the same.

Exterior
Tornado Red brake callipers wearing the RS 7 logo and 21-inch Gloss Black wheels mark the exclusive dynamic edition out from its lesser brethren, while there's liberal use of carbon fibre. Some you can see from the kerb, such as the front splitter and rear diffuser, and some you can't (it has a carbon engine cover). You can finish your dynamic edition in four monotone hues: Ibis White, Suzuka Grey metallic, Daytona Grey pearl and Phantom Black pearl.

Interior
Black Valcona leather seats with RS specific honeycomb stitching are to be found within, and said stitching is contrasting Crimson Red. You'll find it marching across the dashboard, gear gaiter, centre console and armrest, and door armrests too. There are also carbon fibre inlays, to tie in with the exterior accents.

Mechanicals
It's the same 560hp, 700Nm 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine under the bonnet, with Dynamic Ride Control to allow you to change the damper rates according to the surface you're traversing. This also includes a rear sport differential and dynamic steering.

The RS 7 has cylinder-on-demand deactivation, meaning it can shut off cylinders two, three, five and eight when you don't need them. That means, despite the RS 7 being capable of 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds, it returns a 28.8mpg (9.8l/100km) combined economy figure.

Anything else?
The exclusive RS 7 dynamic edition has not been announced for Europe as yet, with its US price when it goes on sale in summer pegged at $146,045. That roughly converts to €105,500 at current rates, but given the RS 7 starts from €147,870 in Ireland, it's unlikely to be anything like as 'cheap' if it ever goes on sale here.
