Ferrari pays record bonus

Good news for factory workers in Maranello as rising profits mean Ferrari's staff receive a little extra in this month's pay packet.

Ferrari's employees will receive a bonus in this month's pay packet, thanks to a variety of factors including record profits in 2013. The reward is the highest yet paid to staff and totals €4,096, or about 20% on top of the salary for a junior worker who has recently joined the company.

The bonus is the result of an incentive scheme agreed with unions in 2012 to share the company's success. As well as profits the reward is linked to a range of operational values including levels of quality. Last year Ferrari paid an additional three-yearly bonus and Chairman Luca di Montezemolo announced that the scheme would be extended for a further three years.

For 2013 Ferrari announced that it would limit production to fewer than 7,000 cars per annum until 2015 to preserve the exclusivity of its products. The decision has not affected trading profits, which increased 8.3% last year, and the company's net financial position is said to be at an all-time high.

Anything else?
The bonus for 2013 was paid in three instalments with two advances of €1,000 followed by a payment this month of €2,096.
