Let me explain. When the field of runners sets off from the start in Killarney on May 4th, they will have 30 minutes to run before the CR-V Catcher Car sets off at a pre-determined speed. It will essentially hunt down the runners and, starting with the slowest (obviously) will pass them out. As the CR-V passes, their race is over. The last person to be passed by the car is the winner. Nifty idea, no?
This is a really global event too. The Irish entrants will be essentially racing against 200,000 other runners around the world on the same day. Best of all, 100 per cent of the entry fee goes straight to the charity, which funds spinal cord injury research.
Anything else?
Need more incentive to run? Well, all of the Irish entrants will be put into a draw to win a new Honda Jazz Si.
