Lexus' Evoque rival to get Beijing debut

The compact NX SUV from Lexus will be revealed in full on April 20th in China.

Lexus will unveil its much-anticipated NX compact SUV model at the Beijing Motor Show on the 20th of April. The NX has been previewed by an extremely-styled LF-NX concept car, which looked rather as if a stealth fighter had mated with a porcupine. Elegant it was not, but the production model, or at least that much of it which we can see from this photo, should be much more pleasing to the eye. What we can see for now is an ever bolder-expression of the toothy new Lexus 'spindle grille' with rather cool boomerang-shaped LED running lights, with full LED main lights stacked above.

The NX will almost certainly be the first car to get Lexus' new 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, presumably within a hybrid drivetrain package. The LF-NX concept version debuted that very engine so it's reasonable to assume that the production version will feature it too. There is no word as yet of a diesel version for oil-burning European customers, but given Lexus' usual hatred of diesel and the impressive performance of such as the current IS 300, we doubt that any DERV-sipping NX will be made available.

Anything else?
Hall W3 at the China International Exhibition Centre, Beijing is the place to be if you want to be among the first to see the new NX.
