MINI confirms that deliveries are on hold as the issue is dealt with. It stems from the surface treatment of the counterbalance shaft in the engine, which has been found to be out of specification.
This issue revolves around the new modular engine that can be built up using 500cc cylinders, which, in the case of the Cooper D, are configured in an in-line three-cylinder 1.5-litre configuration.
Anything else?
Frustratingly for customers there is no official timeframe on exactly when MINI will overcome the problem, meaning that customers could be left waiting several more weeks, or even longer, before their new cars will be delivered.
