Irishman claims victory at the Acropolis Rally

Breen brings his Peugeot home to win on its debut rally.

Last weekend saw both the start of the 2014 European Rally Championship (ERC) and the series debut win of Irishman Craig Breen in his new Peugeot 208 T16 rally car at the Acropolis Rally in Greece. It was also 30 years since Peugeot clinched victory at the famous rally with its legendary 205 T16 race car. Breen is also the first Irish driver to win an ERC event since Frank Meagher won the Manx International Rally back in 1995.

Following his victory, Breen said, "I feel like I'm on top of the world! The 208 T16 turned out to be just as competitive on gravel as it was on asphalt. This is my first victory in an international championship and I am also very proud to have written the first page in the history of the Peugeot 208 T16. It's a great result and a fitting tribute to the hard work put in by everyone not only at the Peugeot Rally Academy but also at Peugeot Sport. It was quite simply a perfect weekend."

Anything else?
If you're in Kerry this weekend you'll have a chance to meet Craig Breen when he visits local Peugeot dealer Reen's Rathmore on Saturday, 5th April between 10am and 12.30pm. You will also have the opportunity to get a closer look at his 208 T16 rally car ahead of it competing at the Fel's Point Circuit of Kerry Rally.
