The 130hp PureTech eTHP 130 engine, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, returned 2.8-litres per 100km (99.1mpg), setting a new record, which was further verified by UTAC (Union Technique de l'Automobile, Motocycle et Cycle). Turbocharging on the three-cylinder engine, a manual gearbox and the lightweight structure of the 308 are claimed to be responsible for the good fuel economy.
