Kia's Paris plans

In Paris, Kia will reveal a cool new town car concept and its next big saloon.

Kia will reveal an electric town car concept called the POP in Paris later this week (September 29). The POP is classic motor show concept stuff, drawn on a 'clean sheet of paper' and largely a flight of fancy.

It's a three-seat car only slightly longer than a Toyota iQ, which sits two up front and one behind - inside its purple interior, which is accessed through scissor-type doors.

We don't really know much else about it, but there's a chance Kia will use it to showcase an electric drivetrain, perhaps for use in future town cars.

The company will also give the new Optima saloon its European debut, a car due to replace the unloved Magentis next year. It made its world debut in New York earlier this year (2010) and will come to Ireland with a new 1.7-litre diesel taking the majority of sales. Kia has also confirmed a hybrid version will follow, though that may not be sold in Ireland.
