And it won't just be any old branded-up luggage either, because BMW has teamed up with Louis Vuitton to create a unique line especially for the i8. Naturally it will still feature that trademark chequered Damier pattern, but the luggage will be made entirely from carbon fibre to reflect the plug-in hybrid car's construction.
The exclusive range will include a 'Weekender' bag, which has both hand and shoulder carry straps (though only the hotel concierge will notice this) and is designed to fit snugly into the boot, while a garment bag is just the right size to go onto the rear shelf. Buyers can also choose between a business case - ideal for laptops - and a smaller weekend bag.
Louis Vuitton will make this range of luggage available, upon request, at selected stores in cities including Munich, Milan, London, Paris, Moscow, Dubai, New York and Los Angeles from April 1st. And no, it's not a joke.

Thanks to the rugged yet lightweight carbon fibre construction of the Louis Vuitton i8 luggage range, those lucky owners will be able to pack more items into the bags without it having as much of an impact on the overall weight of the car. Thank goodness!
