Skoda Ireland registers record sales

Skoda plans to achieve eight per cent market share by 2016.

Czech carmaker Skoda has managed to sell a total of 1,635 cars in Ireland during January. The sales figure is a 31 per cent improvement over the corresponding period from 2013. Skoda says that the increase is primarily because of the new Skoda Rapid, which showed an increase in sales by 47 per cent over last year's numbers. Also, availability of finance schemes from Volkswagen Financial Services has helped. The carmaker mentions that a total of €31.2 million worth of finance was funded by Skoda Finance in 2013. This also shows the trend of customers leaning more towards financing schemes as confirmed by a 52 per cent increase over the financed amount from the year 2012.

Anything else?
Skoda has plans to achieve eight per cent of the market share in Ireland by 2016. In order to achieve that, the carmaker recently inaugurated four new dealerships, creating over 30 jobs and taking the showroom count to 25.
