Subaru at Geneva

Viziv II to lead the Subaru line on the banks of Lake Geneva

Subaru has announced that the Viziv II concept is set to take centre stage on its stand at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Following on from where the original Viziv and Viziv Evolution took off the concept is expected to preview the Japanese firm's next generation crossover.

Little is given away in the single teaser image that has been released but from what we can see the latest concept is a much more angular and aggressive looking affair than its predecessors. The headlights have also been thoroughly redesigned, from the concept frippery of the original car down to the much more production read, but still striking C-shape units set to be shown in Geneva.

However while the concept may grab some attention Subaru does have a reputation for drastically toning down the cars looks for production. Both the Legacy and WRX STI failed to live up to the expectations caused by the concepts that previewed them. Might Subaru get it right this time?

No word on what exactly will power the Viziv II but Viziv I was powered by a Boxer diesel engine and three electric motors; one supplementing the engine and one for each rear wheel. Might we see an evolution of this drivetrain in Geneva?

Anything else?
Speaking of the WRX STI; that car is set to make its European debut at Geneva having being officially unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year. The car will be returning to the UK market so we can but hope it will also come to Ireland. It will be displayed alongside its race car counterpart, which has been developed for this year's 24-hour Nurburgring endurance race.
